ISERAS was held in Hong Kong from June 16 to 18, 2026.
The symposium brought together more than 230 policymakers, experts, academics, and industry representatives from over 70 institutions and accredited organisations, including participants from Hong Kong, the Chinese Mainland, Australia, the United Kingdom, Austria, Indonesia, Singapore, and Thailand.
The symposium included plenary sessions, panel discussions, technical visits, live demonstrations, and an interdepartmental counter-terrorism drill. Memoranda of understanding were also signed to deepen collaboration.
The Under Secretary for Security, Michael Cheuk, spoke at the opening ceremony, emphasizing the need for proactive prevention, international collaboration, and experience sharing to address evolving emergency response challenges.
The interdepartmental counter-terrorism drill, involving the GFS, Hong Kong Police Force, and Fire Services Department, showcased Hong Kong's professional capabilities in responding to terrorist attacks.
The GFS assists in search and rescue, provides air ambulance and emergency aeromedical services, and supports counter-terrorism efforts through rapid deployment and air assault operations.
ISERAS aims to build a transnational pool of professional expertise, underscoring Hong Kong's status as an aviation hub for emergency response in Asia.
