It is an annual international dragon boat racing event held in Victoria Harbour, Tsim Sha Tsui, organized by the Hong Kong Tourism Board. This year marks its 50th anniversary.

The races will be held on June 27-28, 2026, along the Victoria Harbour waterfront in Tsim Sha Tsui. The broader festival runs from June 19 to July 1.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Hong Kong International Dragon Boat Races, as well as the 35th anniversaries of the Hong Kong China Dragon Boat Association and the International Dragon Boat Federation (IDBF). The IDBF also relocated its headquarters back to Hong Kong in April 2026.

More than 220 teams from 16 countries and regions will compete in the races.

The event introduces the 50th Anniversary Fishermen Invitational Cup and the 50th Anniversary Championship. There will also be a 22-metre traditional wooden dragon boat, a Minions & Monsters-themed installation, live music, and intangible cultural heritage performances.

The event is organized by the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) and co-organized by the Hong Kong China Dragon Boat Association.

The International Dragon Boat Federation (IDBF) is the sanctioning body. It formally incorporated as International Dragon Boat Federation Limited in Hong Kong on April 29, 2026, relocating its headquarters there and applying for funding under a HKSAR government pilot scheme to strengthen sports associations' presence in Hong Kong.

The Dragon Boat Festival dates back over 2,000 years and is held on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month to commemorate the patriotic poet Qu Yuan, who committed suicide by jumping into the Luo River.

Visitors can enjoy a 22-metre traditional wooden dragon boat, a dragon boat-themed installation tied to the film Minions & Monsters, live music, and performances of Wing Chun, Chinese diabolo, ruan, and guzheng along the Avenue of Stars.
