FAQ: VERAXA Biotech Initiates Cell Line Development for Lead BiTAC Cancer Therapy

VERAXA Biotech has started cell line development for its lead BiTAC T-cell engager program in collaboration with ATUM, aiming to improve tumor selectivity and reduce off-tumor toxicity. This move follows encouraging preclinical data and supports advancement toward clinical development.
FAQ: VERAXA Biotech Initiates Cell Line Development for Lead BiTAC Cancer Therapy

VERAXA announced the initiation of cell line development for its lead BiTAC T-cell engager program through a collaboration with ATUM.

ATUM will apply its Leap-In Transposase technology to generate stable clonal cell lines.

The cell lines will support IND/CTA-enabling activities, future clinical development, CMC development (including early process, analytical, and formulation development), and production of material for nonclinical studies.

The BiTAC platform splits the T-cell engager into two complementary precursors that activate only when both bind separate tumor targets on the same cell, creating a conditional 'AND'-gated approach.

It is designed to reduce off-tumor toxicity associated with conventional T-cell engagers while maintaining anti-cancer activity, potentially enabling higher dosing and a broader therapeutic window.

Encouraging preclinical data were presented at the 2026 American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) Annual Meeting.

VERAXA aims to build a premier engine for discovering and developing next-generation antibody-based therapeutics, including bispecific T cell engagers, bispecific ADCs, and other innovative formats.
