Silvercorp Metals Production Slowdown FAQ

Silvercorp Metals expects a temporary production slowdown at its Ying and GC mines in China due to new safety regulations, reducing output by 10-50% over the next two quarters while upgrades costing $11.5 million are completed.
Silvercorp Metals Production Slowdown FAQ

The slowdown is due to new nationwide mine safety requirements implemented by Chinese regulators after a fatal coal mine accident in May.

The Ying Mining District and the GC mine in China are affected.

Production is expected to drop by 10% to 15% in the current quarter, and by 40% to 50% at Ying and about 50% at GC in the July-September quarter.

The required 'Six Major Safety Systems' are being installed at non-compliant mining levels.

The upgrades are estimated to cost $5.5 million for the safety systems and an additional $6 million for facility and equipment upgrades, with completion expected in about 50 days.

Production will resume in phases as individual mining levels receive regulatory approval after upgrades.

Silvercorp is a Canadian mining company producing silver, gold, lead, and zinc, focused on free cash flow, organic growth, M&A, and responsible mining.
