SteadIP Free FRP Tunnel FAQ

SteadIP launched a free FRP tunnel platform that allows users to expose local services to the internet using clean public hostnames, without complex cloud networking or VPN routing.

The platform is designed for developers, homelab users, makers, indie hackers, and small businesses who need quick public access to local web apps, APIs, or internal tools.

Users install the FRP client, authenticate, configure a tunnel, and go live. The platform manages public hostnames and handles reverse proxying, certificates, and firewall rules automatically.

SteadIP refactored its original dedicated IPv4/WireGuard offering into a more accessible tunneling service focused on speed, simplicity, and practical use for a wider audience.

SteadIP offers a lightweight alternative that avoids managing reverse proxies, certificates, firewall rules, or cloud load balancers, making it simple to get local services online.

Planned developments include custom domains, verified-user features, improved tunnel health checks, uptime visibility, richer dashboard controls, and scalable gateway infrastructure.

SteadIP was founded by Maxime Labelle, who states the platform is built for people who want their local service online without turning it into a DevOps project.

SteadIP is available at steadip.com.
