It was a high-level international wushu competition featuring 11 men's and 11 women's events across fist routines, long weapons, short weapons, and duilian, with a total of 22 gold medals awarded.

The event took place in Haikou, Hainan, China, and concluded on July 8, 2026.

206 athletes, team leaders, and coaches from 29 countries and regions participated, including 117 elite competitors. Athletes from 18 countries and regions won medals.

The Taolu World Cup is one of the IWUF's flagship events, and this edition occurred shortly before wushu's historic debut as an official medal sport at the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games in November 2026.

Hainan leveraged its Free Trade Port policies, including visa-free access for citizens of 86 countries and a 240-hour transit visa-exemption, fast-track customs clearance, and zero-tariff treatment for specialized competition equipment.

Hainan has a unique 'Qiong-style' wushu system and hosts three 'National Wushu Hometowns' (Tunchang, Qiongzhong, and Wanning), with indigenous styles like Li Family Fist and Tunchang Pochen Five-Form Stakes.

Hainan concurrently hosted the inaugural Hainan International Wushu Culture Month, featuring 'wushu + tourism' travel routes that allowed visitors to enjoy island scenery and duty-free shopping.

Hainan plans to integrate wushu into its sports-tourism product system, create wushu-themed destinations and events, and host international competitions, training camps, and cultural exchanges to become a global wushu hub.

The 43rd IWUF Executive Committee Meeting decided that Haikou will host the 12th Sanda World Cup.
