Critical Infrastructure Technologies Ltd. (CiTech) and Babcock International Group have executed an increased scope Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to co-develop and build a rapidly deployable platform that integrates 5G communications, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR), and counter-Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) capabilities.
The agreement involves Critical Infrastructure Technologies Ltd. (CiTech), a developer of autonomous, high-capacity mobile communications platforms, and Babcock International Group, a FTSE 100 international defence company.
The original MOU focused exclusively on supplying 50 of CiTech's Nexus 20 platforms to the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence, while the increased scope MOU now expands collaboration to include all of Europe and Southeast Asia in addition to Ukraine.
The expanded collaboration will benefit the Ukrainian Armed Forces, all of Europe, and Southeast Asia.
The original MOU was signed at the DSEI (Defence and Security Equipment International) expo in London in September 2025.
The Nexus 20 is CiTech's rapidly deployable platform that integrates 5G communications, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR), and counter-Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) capabilities.
The first Nexus 20 is due to arrive in the EU in April 2026 for whole of region demonstrations.
CiTech's self-deploying platform (SDP) addresses two major limitations of current rapidly deployable communication solutions: strength of the tower and ability to rapidly self-deploy and operate in numerous situations, supporting radio equipment including LTE and other technological payloads like surveillance and anti-drone systems.
CiTech is targeting the mining, defence, border security/surveillance, and emergency services sectors with its technology.
