Global Knowledge Index 2025: Key Findings and Implications

The Global Knowledge Index 2025 is a comprehensive assessment tool developed by MBRF and UNDP that measures countries' knowledge economies and their capacity for sustainable development through various indicators.

The Index was jointly unveiled by the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation (MBRF) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) during the Knowledge Summit 2025.

The results were unveiled during a special session at the Knowledge Summit 2025, held on November 19 and 20, 2025 at the Dubai World Trade Centre in the UAE.

The top 10 countries were Switzerland, Singapore, Sweden, Denmark, the Netherlands, Finland, Ireland, the Republic of Korea, the United Kingdom, and Norway.

The United Arab Emirates ranked first among Arab nations, followed by Saudi Arabia in second place and Qatar in third, with notable improvements across several Arab states in technological infrastructure and development planning.

The Index underscores knowledge as a cornerstone of national resilience, innovation, and long-term prosperity, helping countries identify performance gaps and share best practices for sustainable development.

The GKI aims to share best practices, help countries close performance gaps, and promote universal access to knowledge as vital for building productive societies and sustainable development.

Both organizations reaffirmed their commitment to advancing the Index with international partners and supporting countries worldwide in leveraging knowledge as a transformative force for sustainable development.

The UAE's first-place ranking among Arab nations highlights the country's belief in investing in people as the foundation for progress and demonstrates its leadership in innovation, digital capacity, and knowledge readiness.
